Kerbside mixed recycling

We recycle thousands of tonnes of waste each year and Buckinghamshire is one of the best Counties in the country for recycling. Homes across the county have fortnightly collections of recycling and there are nine household recycling centres across the County which accept waste for recycling. The most common materials produced at home are recycled in Buckinghamshire:

  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays (find out more here)
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Metal food and drink tins
  • Drinks cartons

There are lots more items that can be recycled at home and at the household recycling centres. You can use the Waste Wizard to check what you can recycle locally.

After these materials are collected, they are bulked up in Buckinghamshire and then sent to UK reprocessors to be sorted and separated ready for recycling. Then they are sent to recycling facilities, the majority of which are UK based, to be made into new products. Recycling from Buckinghamshire does not go to the same facility, but this video shows the general process recycling goes through to be sorted.
