Waste free summer

This summer let's move away from Temu and Amazon, there are loads of things you can do that are waste free or generate as little waste as possible, whether it is something you do with younger children or older, they can all enjoy it.
Here are some ideas to keep the kids entertained:
- Junk modelling - mermaids from egg boxes, plastic bottle bird feeder, a paper plate owl. For an extra challenge try making your creation without sellotape or glue so all the elements can be easily recycled when you're done
- Create new wax crayons - all you need is a mould, or even paper cake cases and some old crayons (and an adult to help)
- Create a bird feeder - using an old tetrapak carton
- Make a DIY bug hotel
- Visit a second hand shop and find some bargains
- Challenge yourself to reduce waste with our checklist
Or for some outside inspiration:
- Strawberry picking
- A nature walk
- Do a litter pick in your community
- Create a miniature garden
- Have a low low waste picnic
- Start composting - head over to our schools composting page for more ideas and games
- Nature bingo - download our template or create your own
Or if you're feeling more adventurous why not make a larger bug hotel, you can do this by using pine cones, bark and sticks as well as cutting cardboard tubes.
Ask your parents to share your creations with us via our social pages.
