Reuse at Christmas
Re-wear your Christmas Jumper
According to Hubbub one in five Christmas jumpers are only worn once over the festive period in the UK. Every year around 12 million Christmas jumpers are sold in the UK, and collectively we have close to 69 million Christmas jumpers languishing in our wardrobes. Our recent survey of over 3000 adults found that 1 in 3 under 35's buy a new Christmas jumper each year, and only 2 in 5 keep their Christmas jumper to wear again. If you need a new jumper, or wanted a refresh try shopping second hand first.
Or why not arrange Christmas jumper swap - either amongst friends, neighbours or at your school. To host a clothes swap, follow these steps:
- Advertise the event
- Let people know when and where to make donations
- Separate the donations into size/age
- On the day of the 'swap' let people know when and where they can come to take an item
It's as easy as that. We have created some posters for you to download and print to advertise your event. Click on the poster you prefer to download a PDF and print. We have left blank spaces for you to fill in your own event details.

Get food savvy for Christmas
Let’s have a more thoughtful, caring and reflective Christmas - for each other and our planet. Starting with our food. Love Food Hate Waste have some fantastic tips, advice and hacks for a Christmas that avoids food waste.
Meat is often the centre piece of Christmas dinner. Rearing meat is a resource intensive process however, so it's really important that we make the most of it by eating our leftovers. Making another meal out of leftover food makes sense - it requires less cooking, offers a second nutritious meal and wastes less food. Plus it saves money at this expensive time of year.
Here are some turkey leftover recipes to give you some ideas, but remember to portion your food well first and then make the most of what isn't eaten the next day. Or use your freezer to store for up to 6 months.
