We can offer visits for schools and community groups to local waste facilities to understand where your waste goes. We can also come to your school or community group to run activities, deliver talks or attend events to promote waste reduction and interesting information about the waste and recycling process in Buckinghamshire. Greatmoor Energy from Waste facility is where all the waste that cannot be recycled is taken. Waste from homes in Buckinghamshire that cannot be recycled is burned to generate electricity and avoid landfill. The dedicated education officer at the facility can offer tours, online talks and activities to understand how the facility works. Buckinghamshire has nine Household Recycling Centres where people can bring waste to be recycled or disposed of. The education officer at these sites can offer tours of the facilities or talks and activities to explain the recycling process and how the site works. All of the food waste collected separately for recycling goes to Buckinghamshire food recycling facility, known as an Aerobic Digester. You can find out more about that process here or schedule a tour of the facility here.
