Give small electricals a second chance

So many small electrical items; they are everywhere, we must use at least one every hour of our waking day!

In fact, small electrical items include anything with either a plug or a battery, from the clock on the wall to all those noisy kids’ toys we ‘love’ so much, the list is almost endless!

So what happens to all these items when they break? Or, when we decide it’s time for an upgrade? They certainly don’t need to go in the bin.

There’s no reason why you can’t try and make a bit of money by selling your unwanted electrical items using online sites such like Ebay or high street shops like Cash Converters and CeX which will often buy your unwanted electricals. You can also give away items for free, using websites like Freegle and the items even get picked up from your door.

For electrical items that do not work and are beyond repair, it is still possible to keep them out of the bin. It doesn’t matter that they are broken because they can be recycled and made into something new like games consoles and mobile phones.

All of the household recycling centres in Bucks accept electrical items for recycling, big or small.

Residents who live in South Bucks or Aylesbury Vale can even recycle small electricals at home, on the lid of their wheelie bins on collection day.

More and more electricals are getting a second life or being recycled, so why not make the most of the different ways above to give your electricals a second chance.

Find out what you can and can’t recycle by using the Waste Wizard.
