5. Costumes and face paint

Enough about pumpkins, what about your costumes and face paint? If you need a new costume, why not consider buying second hand or even making your own? Here’s a link for a few ideas: for easy DIY halloween costumes.

If lasts years' costume doesn't fit - why not swap costumes with family and friends, or consider donating to charity shops or selling second hand. If you absolutely must buy new, read the labels and avoid costumes containing polyester, nylon and elastane (you won’t be able to recycle costumes with these plastics in).

When it comes to face paints, look for nontoxic, vegan, cruelty free products (as these tend to be the most eco-friendly to produce). Avoid glitter and other embellishments (e.g. sequins) that can’t be recycled/won’t decompose (you can buy recyclable glitter online).
